Maximiliano has made cinematographic criticism, theoretical analysis and essays for different graphic and digital media from 2004 to date.He also carried out coverage of film festivals, art samples and rock recitals from the main figures of our scene.Self -taught and with a restless artistic spirit, he has reviewed plays, books and records.In 2016 he created the “Cultural Space Seven Arts”, a distance teaching portal, a task that complements the dictation of film cycles and group workshops in various cultural centers.In parallel, he has undertaken numerous research and cultural management tasks.

Carlos Jarquín: Maximiliano Curcio, un placer hablar brevemente de tu polifacética trayectoria a través de este medio. Cuéntanos, ¿cómo describes los logros que has alcanzado a lo largo de tu vida?

Maximiliano Curcio: Dear Carlos, it's a pleasure for me to talk again with you.The professional achievements that I have been able to achieve throughout my life are the result of a tireless effort.Transit as a communicator and writer has taken me on unthinkable paths.Today I think I have achieved as a writer much more than I would have dreamed.Each book published - which at the time of talking with you are already more than twenty in total - is a creature that we gesture with infinite dedication, passion and delivery.Regarding my work as a communicator, my greatest desire would be to achieve my performance in independent journalism a means of life and livelihood, but I know of the deficiencies that in this sense goes through the entire artistic and cultural sector in my country, an aspect that makes itsomething quite unlikely.

CJ: Eres escritor, docente, editor, comunicador, fotógrafo, locutor, gestor y promotor cultural, ¿cuántos años tenías cuando iniciaste a enamorarte del arte?

MC: You define me well, Carlos, I have always tried to pursue versatility, never stay still, to explore new ways of expressing my artistic gaze.I think that the love of art starts from there, a discovery that came into my life in adolescence and then did nothing but expand.First was the cinema, the magical finding of the screen in the dark.Then it was that library that becomes our refuge, we inherit an intimate and private cultural treasure.Also, in those years, discover music through albums and songs that were from another era, but they came to belong and they never abandoned me.Years later I discover the plastic arts, that it was another vital revelation.I feel that I have even more culture to discover that what I have been able to consume or write about it.I think the way ahead is infinite if curiosity does not abandon us.

CJ: ¿Qué es el arte para ti?

MC: an indispensable spiritual food.An inexhaustible source where I will always find inspiration.A compass to guide us along the way, often this life distracts us between superficialities and banal aspects that do the everyday, something irremediable.Art is a great instrument to understand other cultures and better know ourselves.It is a planetary window to infinite links, references, influences and desires.

CJ: Has entrevistado a distintas personalidades de la cultura y del arte de tu país [Argentina], ¿qué es lo mejor que han aportado estas personas a tu vida personal y profesional?

MC: One does not let yourself be nurtured, to learn from other looks.I remember with affection and sensitivity those conversations, with writers or colleagues made cultural making.I have had the possibility of interviewing emerging artists, and I have seen myself mirror in their searches, in their concerns.It is an interesting exercise that of interviewer.It is knowing how to capture the essence and soul of the one who prepares to open his work to the world, his art.It is not little, for these times that run, establish a deep dialogue.

CJ: ¿Qué te motivó a emprender tu propio medio de comunicación “Revista Digital Siete Artes” y en qué año inició este proyecto?

MC: The main motivation was the desire to reinvent myself, always.The need to take the reins of my own medium, to have a space I could dispose, where I could choose and decide what content make visible.Carrying a project, and the fact that a series of vital aesthetic and conceptual decisions rest on me, was a huge challenge.And it still is.After collaborating, for many years, with different cultural media, the challenge of carrying out the designs of a medium became an obligation to undertake, that was the goal.Give space to independent artists and cover any possible relevant cultural aspect, my primordial concerns were.In 2016, I had founded the Cultural Space Seven Arts, a distance teaching site, in completely online methodology.From there the magazine arises (www.Getting out.com), two years later, in 2018, next to the YouTube channel (Channel Seven Arts) with which we have until today, surfing the waves of virtuality and dodging the hegemony of the mass media that usually numbs the least unsuspecting readers ...climbing the Aconcagua if necessary, it is the hunger that drives us, only for love of art.

CJ: ¿Qué tal han sido los resultados de tu visión con este proyecto?

MC: Taking into account the difficulties involved in a completely self -managed means, without any advertising or patronage support, the fact of being able to sustain me, to myself, and to my environment, being possessor of an own web domain, three yearsThen the balance is positive.We have changed the forms, we have moved the skin, but we remain faithful to our essence and ideas.It is an arduous path, it is not devoid of obstacles.Total delivery is required and more than once I have raised if it is worth following.Almost always, the result obtained has little flavor.But they are the rules of the game, for whom we do alternative journalism.

Personally, it is a very precious space, where I can communicate about the art that I am interested in consuming and recommending.Last year, in mid -2021, we took a big step with the production of our first printed graphic roll, a dream come true.The possibility arose from the edition of the tetralogy of my authorsTimes, genres and varieties.A section that they can enjoy in the magazine and its networks, where cultural beauties of the most unusual origin are rescued.Incunable gems, classic cursed poets, series B films, completely anti -commercial records ... sometimes the incorrectness is the proper way for a certain art form to dialogue over time.

I'm interested in diving deep and rescuing those pearls.The title ‘Collection Cabinet’ is inspired by the extravagant rooms of Renaissance wonders.And almost all my obsessions, filias and curiosities of fervent cultural collector condense.See this project materialized, through full -color magazines as an illustration and owners of a precious aesthetic finish, thanks to the support of the Servicop Editorial de la Plata, it has been the next great step of the seven arts collective, in its vein editorial.Everything is the result of enormous sacrifice and whole months dedicated to the design of this very personal work.

CJ: ¿Qué ha significado para ti potencializar el talento de otras personas en el medio artístico, cultural y periodístico?

MC: I thank you that you can see that virtue, something interesting happens to me here.When I make my environment available for someone to write and develop (show the world) their talent, I can not help but see me reflected.I have been in that position too and I am aware that there are wonderful stories waiting to be discovered.Talented artists living semi-ocultations ... It is my desire for my medium to become that platform to make them known.The same thing happens to me when I have to interview a musician, filmmaker, writer, artist or interpreter ... I think that if that selfless spirit prevails when disseminating culture would be more just the panorama for many.My communicator nature cannot stop leaning for that vision and keep looking for those hidden jewels.

CJ: Has sido gestor y promotor cultural presencialmente y por supuesto ahora virtualmente, ¿desde tu experiencia puedes describir ambos conceptos?

MC: The change of times and ways when communicating and disseminating culture forces us not to lose the incentive and resort to our creativity, permanently.You can change the instrument, the tool, but ‘the end’ is exactly the same.And I consider that each option (face -to -face or virtual) offers its uniqueness.

Let's think about it from the teaching side and how to change our way of teaching.There is a gain and loss in each of those variants, and as a communicator, pedagogue or cultural manager, you must adapt.With the usual loss of human contact that this new world has left us, the bet is redoubled.Having that notion of the path you travel or the territory in which you believe, is part of that ability to ‘act in versatile mode’ that I at first told you.We must remain very attentive to how the world changes and the forms of consumption that are born;It is about understanding ‘what’ we are asked and required as cultural actors.This anticipatory vision is indispensable not to be left out, in such vertiginous times.

CJ: Como gran profesional de la comunicación e investigador, constantemente estás leyendo sobre diversos temas, ¿cuáles son esas temáticas de las que constantemente te nutres?

MC: I am quite eclectic to read and I thank you for praise.I assure you that I would like to have read much more than my credit.There is so much avidity, that time does not reach me.I am passionate to read, see and recommend, find new writers or lost classics.It is a stimulus that feeds me.Without which I could not create.I especially like the essay genre, which is also the one who cultivates as a writer, to the most.The biographies, of great personalities of art never bore me.The last thing I have read is the first published poems of the musician Enrique Bunbury, entitled "Exile Topanga", a special recommendation.

CJ: Vivimos en un siglo con una riqueza tecnológica excepcional. De los tantos inventos que el hombre ha realizado a lo largo de la historia, ¿cuáles son los cinco principales inventos que admiras y por qué?

MC: UF, what a question ... I will answer with some humor and totally subjective.

CJ: Quizás pocos amigos, seguidores, colegas o lectores tuyos no conocen que tú eres un gran amante y conocedor del boxeo. Desde tus conocimientos en esta disciplina deportiva, ¿cómo describes la trayectoria del tricampeón mundial nicaragüense Alexis Arguello?

MC: Maybe not many know it, it's true.The truth is that the love for boxing from a very young age cultivates, thanks to the incentive of my beloved and remembered grandfather.Not only did I learn to see boxing, but I learned to practice it, and it is a discipline that I absolutely recommend.There is some genuine spirituality in their performance and pugilistic art reads stories of overcoming and redemption.Alexis Arguello, Nicaraguan, integrates part of the profuse Olympus of Latin American athletes who decorate the history of sport.Three times champion in three different categories (pen, super pen and light), an unpolluted reign for almost a five years and a percentage of victories per ko that tell us about their effectiveness as a brutal peg.After retired, he dedicated himself to politics and his premature death is dyed of confusing circumstances, but nothing tarnishes his brilliant star about the ring.

CJ: Tu más reciente libro publicado es «El asombro se parece a una fotografía», en el cual reúnes un compendio de fotografías, trabajo que has realizado aproximadamente a lo largo de una década, ¿por qué este título? Y háblanos brevemente de este libro.

MC: It was a pending account in my career, as a photographer, gathering in a published material, my registered image body.While many of these photographs already circulated on my website, I felt the need to contain them in a physical format and, after ruling out the idea of an exhibition sample (for a matter of costs, it was impossible to address), I collated theidea of making a super limited printed edition.I would tell you that it is an almost author, artisanal edition.The title arises from an essay that I read, signed by Master John Berger.A phrase there was revealing and a word game in my head was so striking, but illustrative, title chosen.

As you describe, concatena my photographic production from 2013 to date and is designed through a seventeenth -seven -year backbone.Each series has a name that refers to some aspect of photographic art, as a poetic trigger.With the power that confers them, the images are in charge of working their own story.It is my first book that contains exclusive images, is different from everything I did before.There I communicate my way of relating to colors, shadows and contrasts, geometries, frames and incomparable wonders of photographic art, capable of stopping time in an instant.

CJ: ¿Cuáles son los temas principales que plasman en este material fotográfico que has seleccionado en esta obra?

MC: Mainly, it is the observation of the world that will surround me for the past ten years.Each photo is an emotional painting, where the natural landscape prevails.Heavens, seas and forests abound.Cloud shapes, footprints in the sand, sunsets on urban cuts.There are also interior photography and other more abstract moments.It is a chronological and also geographical tour through different locations that I have visited.From the inside of the province of Buenos Aires to a city that I adore, like Rosario.From the entire Atlantic coast around the city of La Plata, where I was born and alive.A instant curatorship that the beautiful edition of the 12/50 graphic printing.The ‘bonustack’ of the book are two final series dedicated, exclusively, to digital drawing, playful facet that I have approached with growing curiosity.This is how this hardcover book and three hundred pages was born, under an austere printed lying that is not marketed in bookstores.

CJ: Eres un apasionado del dibujo digital, ¿desde cuándo has explorado esa faceta y qué tal han sido tus expectativas desde el inicio hasta el presente?

MC: I started exploring the digital drawing vein as a creative game, a few years ago.I could in my first photographs book, "astonishment resembles a photograph", gather some of the material there, investigate in certain aspects and techniques of the visual intervention about photographs taken by me.But, for a matter of cutting, many experiments were left out of that selection and at the moment I am working on a book that will contain them, along with the new 2022 harvest photographs, plus a remnant that will be outside the selection for the last catalog published.It is a direct sequel to the aforementioned book book, I even have an tentative title for the book, starting from an aesthetic conception that has me very excited.

CJ: Eres un gran crítico y estudioso del cine, ¿puedes mencionarme tres películas que han marcado un antes y un después en tu vida y por qué?

MC: Interesting exercise, let's see ...

"Citizen Kane", by Orson Welles, a master class of management and film narration, advanced to his time several years and aspects.If there is a film myth, it is that.

"Psychosis", by Alfred Hitchcock - although he could choose any of his authorship - he taught me the perfect way to combine art and entertainment, the eternal cinephile illusion.And, in addition, it is the key example of a work that exceeds its cultural context to settle in the collective unconscious.

Regarding the third film of film that changed my life, it would be unfair to many to leave outside.I am interested in authors who can reflect on the human condition through their work.I think my magical revelation of cinematographic art would not be the same without the work of Pedro Almodóvar, Woody Allen or Claude Chabrol.Nor without the joy of having been contemporary of the greatest actress and the greatest actor of all time;Enjoy on a Meryl Streep and Denzel Washington movie screen has been key to my cinephile memory.

CJ: Te describes como un “autodidacta y de espíritu artístico e inquieto”, ¿cómo es un día cotidiano en la vida de Maximiliano Curcio?

MC: overnight, and vice versa, creating daily, with the risk of starting more projects than I can finish.With great work discipline, which could get to bore, frankly.There is no rest.The work surpasses us, we fight against the passage of time, boldly.

Writing about the horizon itself, leading ideas, future pending to fill in my path as a writer, almost all activity outside the creation ends up boring me.Quite abstracted from the outside world, immersed in the chaos of my inner space itself.Self -taught, it is correct, always reading and absorbing, waiting to go into action, it is my ground cable without doubt.Restless for antonomasia, I can't find a better way to be here and now.Sorry as my mission in the world.

CJ: ¿Dónde y en cuáles formatos podemos adquirir tus libros?

CJ: ¿Puedes hablarnos de los proyectos en los que estás trabajando actualmente?

MC: At the moment, I am ending the last touches to the print edition of the Tetralogy "Collection Cabinet", in full color format, for a Bookazine of one hundred pages available on request already on my platforms, consisting of unmissable cultural recommendations,In various artistic areas.I open my treasure of wonders and obsessions, I rehearse my voracious collector's hobby, I share my ‘yield’, my library, my film library, to all that lover of art who has a good palate for these objects of worship.It is also in the editing stage, next to be published during the months of February and March, my diptych entitled "Great Film Stars", an encyclopedic investigation of more than six hundred pages that graph life and work of essential actresses and actors of world cinema.

And two other projects in which I have been working approximately two years ago, and that will culminate my editorial premiere for this calendar, are the publication of my first poetic prose book, entitled "I am writing this tomorrow" (more than three hundred stories in wayOf conscientious exams, which I conceived, daily, during the pandemic confinement) and, also, my literary prima opera in the field of sports journalism, a discipline that I cultivated for several years, but I had never had the possibility of publishing about it.The book will be called "men, myths and legends," and explores, through a social anchor, the transcendence of key figures of African -American sport, from the first years of the twentieth century until today.
