Telva Cosmetics Brand Lush Quits Major Social Media

The well-known beauty brand Lush deactivates its Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok and Snapchat accounts until it is confirmed that it is a safe space for users.

As of Friday, November 26, the cosmetics brand Lush will close all its accounts on the main social networks due to the growing number of recent complaints against Facebook. This not only applies to official company profiles, but the accounts of the workers themselves also fall into the quota.

"I dedicate all my efforts to creating products that help us disconnect, find relaxation and take care of our well-being. Instead, social networks are designed to keep people hooked for as long as possible, with algorithms created to prevent them from disconnecting and relax," said Jack Constantine, CDO and product inventor.

The controversy with social networks is increasing, due to the dark side they have and of which little visibility is given. From Lush they expect the platforms to introduce best practices and solid policies, before reactivating their accounts. "We feel an obligation to take our own steps to protect people from harm and manipulation they may experience while trying to connect with Lush on social media," they said.

As an alternative, since they cannot simply disconnect from the world, they have decided to find new ways of interacting with people, building better communication channels and using those that they consider a little safer, such as Twitter or YouTube. "Although we always have a lot to say, we like it to be done safely, with the right communication tool," they said. This action had already been carried out in other countries such as the United Kingdom and now Lush Spain takes the step.
