Halloween: Follow these health recommendations if you are going to make up your children

The Invima launched an alert to Colombians about the celebration of Halloween in the country, for the use and safe consumption of cosmetic products such as makeup and food such as sweets and confites.

The director (e) of cosmetics, cleaning, pesticides and domestic hygiene products of Invima, Judith Mestre, said that preventive actions must be taken to avoid skin affectations or poisoning cases.

"This seeks to ensure that these parties are enjoyed without health setbacks, either due to skin lesions or poisoning given the intake of sweets in poor condition," he said.

The official added that it is important to acquire makeup in recognized sites that provide confidence in the origin and manufacture of products.

"Similarly, when making the purchase of sweets, check that the packaging is not deteriorated, nor has it been subject to any alteration or modification, as well as the quality and readability (sharpness) in the printing of the product," he said.

In that sense, he explained that citizens should avoid acquiring this type of products in traveling places or experiences or public transport systems.

He stressed that in the case of packaging, they must have the health registration or notification, the manufacturer's name and the expiration date either of cosmetics or food.

“It is important to clarify that chewing gums and confectionery products do not require declare this date.However, if it detects odors, flavors and other unknown or strange characteristics of sweet, refrain from consuming it.The same happens if cosmetic products that are in poor condition are evidenced, or that they have been open for too long, we must not use them because their quality may have been affected, ”he said.

The Invima said that makeup that can be easily removed, thus prevents the skin from undergoing abuse due to irritation, redness and stains.

"As for the use of makeup for children under 3 years, check that they are indicated for this age and never paint the skin of minors with products that are not cosmetics (for example, tempera, vinyl, watercolors, among others),"said.

Finally, the official added that you cannot forget the appropriate hand washing before handling the makeup and applying it on the skin, as well as their hygiene when opening and consuming sweets.
