BeautyEmbryolisse's mythical Lait-Crème cream launches a new version with SPF and protection against blue light. A pharmacist explains how to use it

By Ana Morales

The pharmacy cream adored by French women -including Julia Restoin-Roitfeld and Elisa Sednaoui-; the one qualified by makeup artists as one of the best makeup primers, and the possessor of infinite and unexpected uses, debuts in 2022 a new, even more complete version. Taking into account the level of popularity of Lait-Créme de Embryolisse -yes, we were talking about it-, the fact that it now has a version with SPF and protection against blue light makes us suspect that it will probably be the bedside cream that they will want to use. without stopping the French (and the Spanish). Because although they discovered it first, in the rest of the world it is also a best-seller (a tube is sold every 3 seconds).

The new good news in cream form is called Lait-Crème Multi-Protection and with all its multitask benefits -it is a cream that can be used as a mask, to remove make-up, as an illuminator and even mixed with make-up shadows to create an effect glossy- joins that, in addition, it is an anti-pollution shield and a treatment that helps prevent aging. In addition to having SPF 20 and daily global protection against blue light (note, a study published in 2020 stated that 5 days working in front of a computer screen is equivalent to 25 minutes in the sun at noon without any protection).

We have spoken with the pharmacist María José Cachafeiro -@laboticadetete on Instagram-, about a cream for which we predict a great future.

If you only want to use one cream, does it cover all the needs of the skin?

Having all the needs of the skin covered with a single cream sounds almost utopian. But it is true that this new version considerably reduces the cosmetic steps to use if a minimalist routine is preferred. “In my opinion there are very few occasions in which a single cream covers all the needs of a skin. It is a very complete cream that makes it possible to reduce the daily routine of many users, although as it is usually necessary to complete the care with some other product, be it intensive daily treatment for day and/or night, be it greater sun protection or a weekly intensive treatment”, points out the pharmacist.

With this cream, is it not necessary to use a photoprotector?

We know that the photoprotector is the No. 1 cream to prevent aging and that the ideal is always to use it as the final step of the care routine and before makeup. However, when a cream incorporates SPF, the question always arises: Is it enough or is it necessary to use an additional photoprotector? In the case of this cream, Maria José Cachafeiro states: "Although the protection factor is medium and not a high factor, which is my usual recommendation, the truth is that it will depend on the phototype and other characteristics and circumstances. It is not the same For example, a woman with a phototype III, who lives in an area with low solar incidence and who uses makeup daily, than another with a phototype I or II, who lives in a very sunny area and does not have another type of sun protection. In any case, I would like to take this opportunity to emphasize the importance of using the right amount of sunscreen. In my day-to-day work at the pharmacy and in consultancies, I see that many times, even if products with a high sun protection factor are used, a small amount is applied with what that we can think that we are sufficiently protected without actually being so”.

Can it be used as a night cream?

Although it is not contraindicated, at night is a good time to use a regenerating product. "I always recommend not using products with sunscreens in night care and use cosmetics more focused on the transformation and / or regeneration of the skin, although, of course, it will always depend on the needs of the skin", she points out.

Is it suitable for mixed or oily skin?

When a moisturizer has SPF, it may be logical to have some reservations about the possibility of a dense texture, but in the case of this cream, the new version still maintains its light texture. “Yes, it is a non-comedogenic product, so it will not cause pimples and its texture is pleasantly surprising. I know for a fact that it has cost them a lot of tests to introduce the filters without giving up their pleasant texture. It is absorbed just as quickly, does not leave a whitish residue and maintains the aroma of the original formula in a slightly more subtle way, ”says the expert.

Lait-Crème Multi-Protection will be on sale from January 15.
