Facial treatments to give away at Christmas: the best ideas to get it right

Hearing about touch-ups may turn some people off, but the reality is that there is not only Botox nor surgical interventions. There are currently a multitude of options when it comes to facial treatments, and many can be a perfect Christmas or Three Kings gift.

Dermatologist Ricardo Ruiz explains what to take into account when embarking on a facial treatment: "The key is to use aesthetic sense and common sense to benefit from the advances of modern dermatology with prudence and discretion" .

Anti-aging care or firming treatments are some of the most demanded by users, especially once they are over 40 years of age. There are those who opt for more ambitious processes, while others prefer non-invasive interventions with perceptible but discreet results, more focused on well-being. In both cases there is a choice.

Facial treatments to give away at Christmas: peelings with a good face effect

One of the most satisfying facial treatments, suitable for both lovers and those who are reluctant to aesthetics, is professional peeling. Its objective is simply to achieve a deep cleansing of the skin, with an exfoliation made with acids included, so that it gains luminosity, firmness and health. The function of the peeling is to remove dead cells and impurities from the face, achieving that natural 'good face' effect.

Medical peels are maximum exfoliation, so they should always be done in the hands of professionals.

A variation of this concept, highly recommended for its flash effect but also for its long-term results, is Hydrafacial, preferred by doctors Virtudes Ruiz and María Vicente, from the VirtudEstetica clinics in Murcia, and celebrities, such as Beyoncé or Cameron Diaz .

The secret to his success? It is a dermabrasion -peeling carried out through this machine- carried out on damp skin, so it does not suffer. It incorporates a patented system of heads that, in reality, what they do is insufflate air or aspirate-suction the skin, depending on the treatment phase, to drain, cleanse and exfoliate, perform a peeling and extract impurities, and facilitate the penetration of powerful antioxidant, regenerating and moisturizing serums. "It has the particularity that the air in these heads spins at very high speed, as if it were a tornado, and thus breaks the molecules of the active ingredients into tiny particles so that they penetrate the skin more easily," explains Virtudes Ruiz.

What do you get? "With Hydrafacial the skin is oxygenated, detoxified, deeply cleansed and hydrated. And it has a wonderful flash effect and good face. It leaves the skin juicy, fresh and luminous, since it causes the formation of new collagen and elastin -fundamental substances for the skin youth-. It also offers very good results on expression lines and sun spots", explains María Vicente.

Three sessions are recommended (one per month), but with only one you can already perceive that flash effect (from 150 euros).

Facial treatments at Christmas: against sagging, radiofrequency

Another therapy that does not require surgery or anesthesia and is non-invasive is facial radiofrequency. A technique that focuses on stimulating the creation of collagen and improving blood circulation. It is based on the use of high frequency electromagnetic waves, which is achieved is to reduce flaccidity and loss of firmness of the face.

Radiofrequency is not painful or invasive, but rather relaxing, like a massage but with a 'gadget'. And, in addition, it is effective against flaccidity. Doctors Ruiz and Vicente recommend it after the age of 30, which is when the first signs of aging begin to become visible -you know, when it comes to rejuvenating, prevention is better than cure-.

"The progressive firmness of the skin can be seen from the first month, although this effect is much more evident after the fourth", says Ruiz. The final effect, where the skin will look great, is after three months, which is the time necessary for the fibroblasts to create new collagen in the treated area.

Results usually last a year or two. Prices vary between 60 and 110 euros per session, depending on whether it is done only on the face, or on the neck and décolleté.

Facial treatments to give away, the move to mesotherapy

For those who don't mind taking a little leap, there will always be hyaluronic acid. The applications of this substance, naturally present in the body, are very varied, although it mainly fulfills two functions: hydrate and plump. That is why it is frequent as a resource to eliminate dark circles, reduce wrinkles or as a formula to increase hydration and volume of the lips. Needle through, yes.

The same happens with facial mesotherapy, appropriate for dry and dull skin, where different active ingredients are mixed to infiltrate to give a rejuvenating effect and luminosity to the skin in a global way. In both cases, the results are seen almost instantly, although they need a minimum time to settle.

Facial treatments as gifts: a very tasty protocol

Those who are not very fond of such intense treatments will always find a facial massage with effects their ideal gift.

From the Oxigen center in Barcelona they propose the Glow Skin C27 Facial Protocol, 75 minutes where the richness and effectiveness of cosmetics and the know-how of the expert hands of professional facialists merge.

It begins with a deep cleansing before proceeding to the remodeling massage maneuvers that will return the definition to the facial oval and raise the cheekbones to provide a youthful and rested appearance to the face. It costs 100 euros.
