Little remains for us to add about the benefits that retinol has on the skin - pharmacist Asun Arias already said, this would be the asset that would be taken to a desert island along with vitamin C and glycolic acid. But if there was something left to say about it, the most famous dermatologist on TikTok has just explained it on his social networks. Muneeb Shan -who in less than 18 months managed to attract more than 10.5 million followers, becoming the most influential doctor on this network- has explained in a simple way how to apply retinol like a dermatologist. And he has solved certain doubts at a stroke. For the expert it is essential to do it with clean skin, applying the eye contour first. The reason? “It protects this area and it helps especially if you have a sensitive eyelid,” he says. In addition, as other experts point out, putting the eye contour first always facilitates its absorption because the skin in this area is very thin and not very porous and that it is the first step of the routine makes it more effective.

Dr. Shan advises applying the retinol - a pea-sized amount - in dabbing motions around the face and finishing with a moisturizer, as retinol alone isn't enough. And at this point, we allow ourselves to add another expert trick when using retinol. "It is preferable to let it act for about 15 minutes before applying the cream," says Marta Masi. Well, that's it.
