Benefits of Vaseline in beauty that you did not know
Vaseline is an affordable product that many of us probably have at home. In the area of beauty, one of its best-known uses is as a lip balm to soften this area of our face when it suffers from dryness. But, this product can do more for our skin thanks to its moisturizing power.
The dermocosmetic specialist Ana Santamarina explains in her Instagram space that it hydrates and protects the skin: “It is one of the most effective and proven occlusives that exist. It helps prevent water from evaporating from your skin and, therefore, reduces transepidermal water loss. Protects the skin from external aggressions”.

She also says that it is suitable for sensitive skin (we already know its constant use in baby care) and that she prefers to use it at night because of its greasy consistency.
We are going to review some benefits of Vaseline, for which you can occasionally include it in your beauty routines, especially when the skin looks dry or is irritated.
Ideal hand and foot mask
When your hands and feet are very dry, you can use Vaseline as a mask. Specialist Santamarina recommends applying a generous layer of moisturizing cream to our hands, then a layer of Vaseline and covering with cotton gloves. For the feet, the procedure can be repeated and covered with socks. You can leave it on overnight.

For the perfume to last longer
One of the uses that we can do with this cosmetic product is to make the aroma of our perfume last longer. When you need this long wear, you can apply a light layer of Vaseline to the parts where you spray your perfume, like behind the ears or on the wrists, and you're good to go. As an extra tip, you should not rub your skin after applying the fragrance because this will affect its notes, let it dry naturally.
Nail and cuticle moisturizer
Some specialists say that the cuticle should not be removed because this could cause damage to the skin and the nail, instead the recommendation is to keep it hydrated. Vaseline is a very good alternative to achieve this by applying a little on each of your nails, massaging cuticles. Ana recommends placing it on wet nails and assures that it could help strengthen them and prevent them from chipping.

as eye contour
Santamarina confesses that she uses this magical ointment as an eye cream. You can apply it on your specific product for this area or directly on the skin, preferably at night, because we know that it can leave an oily layer. This way you will have the skin that frames your look very hydrated in the morning.
after waxing
After waxing, burning and reddening of the skin can sometimes occur. To alleviate these discomforts, you can apply a little Vaseline right after removing the hair, both on the body and on the face.
On the lips
Perhaps everyone knows that Vaseline is a star product to treat dry lips, but we did not want to leave this use out of our list to remember it, especially in this cold season when the skin of this delicate area tends to dry and crack. You can use your balm for a few days and Vaseline only when you feel that they are very serious.

To exfoliate them, you can mix a little Vaseline with sugar. Rub this mixture very gently on your lips, making circular movements for a few minutes. Remove with warm water.
So as not to stain yourself with dye
Women who dye their hair can apply a generous layer of Vaseline to the edges of the face and neck before dyeing, not forgetting the ears. In this way they can prevent the skin of the face from being stained.

On the skin, only for dry skin
Slugging is a beauty trend that was popularized on Tik Tok and involves applying Vaseline all over your face. This can be useful for people with very dry skin, but not as a regular moisturizer, but rather a couple of times a week.
In an article in Cosmopolitan, Dr. Antonio Licitra, a specialist in aesthetic medicine, explained: "The use of Vaseline in the field of aesthetics is very common to repair and keep hydrated skin that has been subjected to an aggression such as a laser or an exfoliation. However, in normal skin, in my opinion, it could only be useful in very dry skin. In fact, on oily or acne-prone skin it could become counterproductive, since the fact that it creates a film on the skin can favor bacterial proliferation and cause new outbreaks”.
Remember to consult your trusted dermatologist about the products you use and if they are suitable for your skin type and needs.
