This Friday the Peace with Legality Fair was held in the municipality of Turbaco, Bolívar, an event where a group of victims of the armed conflict and ex-combatants of the demobilized FARC guerrilla from this region exhibited their projects productive.

With the support of the Ministry of the Environment and the presence of the President of Colombia, Iván Duque and his Chilean counterpart, Sebastián Piñera, this important event was held in which green businesses stood out, that is, those enterprises that offer goods and services that incorporate nature-friendly environmental and social practices.

A green business, more than a mark of respect for nature, is a seal of respect for life; that is what our entrepreneurs are displaying and demonstrating today. From the environmental portfolio, we bet on this type of venture that helps us consume in a more environmentally friendly way, and that, at the same time, generates an admirable social impact in the territories most affected by violence," said the Environment Portfolio Manager, Carlos Eduardo Correa.

Among the ventures that stood out in this important event that gathers the efforts of the victims and ex-combatants five years after the signing of the Peace Agreement are Artelisa; Arts and Talents; Green Hills; and E&P Solutions; and those exhibited by the Comprehensive Association of Farmers of the Hayita village, and the Afro Ñame Gastronomic Association of San Cayetano, San Juan Nepomunocene.

Conflict victims and ex-combatants debut as green business entrepreneurs

These green businesses have been verified by the Ministry with the support of the Regional Autonomous Corporation of the Canal del Dique (Cardique), which are led by women victims of the armed conflict, disabled people, Afro-descendants and signatories of the Agreement between the State Colombian and the demobilized FARC guerrilla.

“We bet on sustainable fashion to have a better environment. With this alternative of products, like our bags, whoever buys them has the advantage that they can restore them, thus avoiding mass consumption and the negative burden on the planet”, indicated the creative director of the Artelisa business, Nereida Acosta.

The enterprises are part of the 152 green businesses verified by the Ministry of Environment in the department of Bolívar, which in turn. They are added to the 3,070 that have been certified in Colombia and are distributed in different regions of the country, which generate about 30,807 jobs.

The event was held within the framework of the peace policy with legality advanced by the national government, which must guarantee reparation for victims, compliance with those who are in the reincorporation process, the safety of ex-combatants and leaders substitution of crops and the implementation of a comprehensive rural development that includes gender and women's approaches.

The enterprises presented their sustainable products and services to national and international visitors, including bags, backpacks, handles, bracelets, tables, lamps with recycled wood, design, marketing and assembly of alternative energy systems and ecotourism services”, concluded the Ministry of Environment.
