A Good Friday of 1865, the Paraguayans attacked the city of Corrientes and then took it with strong military contingents, went from everything in the city invaded by soldiers and welders, enemies and friends at the same time.

The authorities, mostly, fled from the city and took refuge in San Roque, since Governor Lagraña needed a physical space to exercise their functions and thus was done for a short time, until the arrival of the invader. The chosen house was located in front of the main square, near or neighbor to the historic church of the town, its structure is still preserved.A house that gives the current inhabitants not pleasant surprises. Those who inhabited it claim that voices, discussions are heard, even serious threats among the spirits that are around space. At sunset, figures that travel their spaces are usually seen, some support forced cohabitation, others not.

The last acquirer, Don Alberto, decided Saint imposed by some God. The first, the priest, exorcised the house making the necessary rituals so that the souls that are around the place rest in peace. Despite all the dedication, Don Alberto warned that his first play did not work: sitting in the gallery before an important patio, he saw parade subtle shadows in brave bravas by the almost invisible gestures of darkness and even seemed to him that he could live together with them. Her wife did not agree with that attitude, the Ana consort hardly slept. Before the situation, she turned to the second option, Doña Calixta, the healer, and went to her house in the people's suburbs. "Good, Doña Calixta, with her permission," she said, running the cover of coastal wood between the old data. "Good you have, Don Alberto," said the old woman, who rocked into a wooden armchair under one of the trees that populated her courtyard. Alberto said Carraspeando: “You must know what brings me; This time is not the empacho. ” Calixta watched him with his deep honey eyes and asked undoubtedly: "Is it for the house?" "Yes," Alberto said, "it's not for me, because the shadows don't bother me, but my lady is afraid." The healer replied: “And well, chamigo, I will see what I can do, remember that the priest Ko could not. Tomorrow in the afternoon, which is when they like to walk those poor spirits, let's talk to them. ”

The next day, when the sun fell on the west of the historic town of San Roque, Doña Calixta, walking slowly through its streets helped by a lapacho cane made by her own hands, went to Don Alberto's house. She touched the bronze call -instrument of times when the electricity did not exist -, she entered the house accompanied by her owner and went to the gallery, the main place of the spectra sightings. When the shadows covered the remains of the sun that was fully hidden, as was common, the ghostly figures arose from nothing in an exposed discussion, gestures of transparencies and sudden movements allowed the lady to observe carefully the extravagant events. Calixta took water from her from her, which she carried in a ceramic bottle and turned on an incense of Palo Santo, muttering between primitive teeth prayers that she learned from her Indian ancestors, she threw water and continued with her litany . The wind stopped her march, there was an incomprehensible calm, the spirits also calmed down and her transparencies focused on the woman who evidently communicated in Guaraní with them. From the bottom of the darkness a terrible and cavernous voice was heard: "The woman has forgotten us!", In Guaraní, and the spirits returned to the struggle and discussions. Doña Calixta, thoughtful, interrogated Don Alberto: "Is your wife Pa Sanroqueña?" Don Alberto responded affirmatively. "Ah ... and who were the parents?" Thus the conversation followed, with the intervention of Alberto's wife, the history of his genealogy of long village tradition were patiently woven. "Well Che Ama, with you it seems that it is the thing," said Calixta by addressing Ana. "So are the relative of these and others." Ana did not understand anything and the fear of her increased in that place she never visited because she locked himself at sunset, listening to strange voices and movements in her window on the gallery. "Don't worry," said Calixta, "I know what happens. Do you visit your dead? Cachazuda, Ana replied: "Whenever I can, I go to the cemetery, I carry flowers and I stay a while to pay tribute, especially my parents, I turn them on candles as they all do." "Ah," said Calixta, "and your grandparents?" "The truth is not, because they say, they lived fighting for political reasons," said the woman. The healer asked where they were buried. "According to my old mother, who died almost ninety, in the historical church, but only one." Calixta took the answer to volley and replied: “You are wrong Che Am, your two grandparents are there, one the recognized and the other, the true one, who left his fruit of a clandestine love with your grandmother, is also buried in sacred because They were important and silver. ” Ana was thoughtful and sad looking at the distance as if she wanted her blue eyes, heritage of forbidden love, they were lost on the dark horizon. "My mom before dying she told me something that I did not understand: whenever you go to the old church we carry two candles and two branches of flowers, some may need." "I already told you," Calixta said, "your grandparents continue to fight even in the grave: one was miter and the other Solanista, these fights of spirits that do not leave you alone are repeated in the sacred enclosure, that's why nobody remains inside the old woman Church at sunset. ”

Sombras y cadenas

The next day Ana, Alberto, Calixta and others went to the church to light candles and take flowers to two nearby tombs known to the town.Since then, the courtyard of the colonial house, at sunset is the scene of spectral but quiet, calm events, as if the spirits find themselves dialogue, but they no longer scare it to Ana, who even when she is alone laughs. Can it be that she communicates with her ancestors?

Calixta returned home with his cane, laughing at his juvenile ninety -three years. She knew about Ana's grandmother's mischief.
