The gold and diamond market has always been under suspicion of mining extractions that threaten the human rights of workers and the environment. With the aim of combating these practices and improving the reputation of the sector, the Tracemark company has launched a novel technology that through a traceability system ensures that the jewel meets ethical and sustainable criteria since its extraction for the final sale. The consumer can verify it through a QR code that displays a document where all the phases of preparing the jewel audited by a professional in the sector are presented.
The business idea is from the Serret family, owner of the Barcelona Company, specialized in the manufacture and sale of high -end jewels since 2005.The family constituted Tracemark last year with a 600 share capital.000 euros. Most were contributed by the Serret family and another part by the French jeweler André Messika.

The company has been founded by the owners of the Joyera Facet company, which invoices 14 million euros
In a year, the company has managed to capture four clients, including Tous and Verone brands.“We have the goal of closing a year with six clients and a 100 billing.000 euros, ”says Berta Serret, general director of the business and daughter of Josep Miquel Serret, the founder of FACET.
The platform's business model is based on the sale of technology to manufacturers and jewelry brands.Serret comments that the company's great challenge is to convince the industry to change its network of suppliers towards validated companies for auditors. The interest, he says, is great because the consumer is increasingly aware of ethical and environmental issues. In fact, the gold that validates tracemark must be 100% recycled, says Serret.
