I'm an esthetician and you've been doing your skincare routine wrong...here's why you shouldn't do it right before bed
IF YOU'RE into skin care, you most likely do your routine at the end of the day, when you're getting ready for bed, right?
Well, we have news for you…
It turns out that you shouldn't be doing your skincare routine right before bed and, in fact, you should be doing it at least 1-2 hours before.
Gin Amber, a beautician with 51.6k followers on TikTok has revealed the mistake we've all been making with our skincare routine.
She uploaded the video of her with the caption 'Simple skin care tip that not many of us know and do'. Did you know?'.
She said: “A skincare tip that can change your life.
"Apply your skincare to your skin an hour or two before bed, otherwise your expensive skincare will be on your pillowcase."
If you do your routine right before bed, not only will your skincare products go directly onto your pillow, but this also won't allow the products to absorb properly into your skin.
Gin's video has clearly piqued the interest of many people, as she quickly racked up 60,000 views.
She has 1,629 likes, 76 comments, and 24 shares.

Another added: “Yes, this is very true. I was making this mistake, but never again."
A third commented, "I found that out and my hair was all greasy... So I do my skincare a few hours before bed."
Skinkraft experts said: “Some experts suggest that the best time for your nightly skincare routine is right before you go to bed. However, you may end up with more moisturizer on your pillow than on your face. The skin needs at least 10-20 minutes for the products to be properly absorbed into the skin.
“So ideally you should use a makeup remover as soon as you get home. Follow this by cleansing your face thoroughly. After that, you can space the application of your serum, toner, eye gel, and moisturizer in intervals between your chores and dinner.
"In this way, you ensure a complete skincare routine and provide your skin with all the nutrition it needs during the nights."
In the meantime, you've been doing your makeup wrong... and that's why it doesn't last all day.
