Puerto Montt Hospital team takes Christmas magic to SOS village children in Puerto Varas - El Heraldo Austral

With the aim of bringing a moment of joy to different boys and girls from the Hospital and its surroundings, the Environmental Management Team, led by Carlos Vega, Valeska Paillacar and Roberto Vidal, carried out different Christmas activities, following the tradition which started 2 years ago.

This 2021, they carried out the hospital sponsorship campaign for boys and girls from the SOS Village of Puerto Varas. In this Christmas initiative, it was possible to gather 40 gifts for boys and girls from 7 to 18 years of age, thanks to the sponsorship of Hospital officials, with the help of some members of the Environmental Management Section. The gifts were delivered from the HPM to the Director of the SOS Village.

In addition, another activity is carried out that aims to celebrate Christmas beforehand with the users who visit the HPM and especially with the boys and girls. This is how it was carried out at the front and entrance to the venue, delivery of sweets, bags and balloons. In total, it was possible to prepare 150 bags of sweets and balloons that were delivered by caravan by Environmental Management officials, with the required measures and safeguarding the capacity and distancing. With a car, they took the bags of sweets, accompanied by Christmas music and the old Easter.

Carolina Jara, head office, points out, “I want to highlight the enthusiasm of the Hospital employees, who, upon hearing the music, came up to greet our old man Pascuero, in addition to the children and adults who came up to request a photograph, regards engravings or simply to ask for your Christmas present”.

Visit to pediatric oncology

As every year this team of officials coordinates and gathers gifts for HPM oncology patients, this year there were 30 gifts for children between 5 and 14 years of age. The activity was coordinated in conjunction with the nurse Carolina Wistuba.

This pandemic gift-giving activity is very different from the usual with each child receiving their gift in the presence of Old Man Easter. "Unfortunately, and due to the contingency conditions, it could not be carried out, however, Old Easter (D. Carlos Vega) in the company of the Environmental Management Team, delivered the gifts on December 17 to D. Carolina Wistuba, who delivered them to the boys and girls from pediatric oncology”, adds the professional.

Finally, Carolina Jara adds, “these activities are the actions that should make us proud as hospitals for the quality of our staff, personally I am very proud and grateful for this work team, which grows more every day and has this level of commitment to each of these officials and to all those who collaborated, thank you very much”
