Omicrono ASUS ROG presents its gaming laptops for 2022: new screens and a lot of power to play

ASUS ROG has taken advantage of the CES 2022 fair, which this year has seen several withdrawals from large companies, to present its gaming news, such as your laptops, a tablet and even a series of bags and backpacks to carry these devices. Some products that are expected to arrive in Spain in the coming months.

Among the products presented are renewed formats of the Zephyrus Duo 16, Zephyrus G14 and Strix; in addition to a new gaming tablet called Flow Z13 and the Archer series backpacks. The manufacturer has also unveiled an update to the ROG Citadel XV digital experience where all the new products can be explored.

Some models that include from 12th generation Intel Core processors to AMD Ryzen 6000 series chips, passing through NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPUs or 16:10 panels and the new ROG Nebula HDR and ROG Nebula Display screens. Below, we detail all the features of the new ASUS gaming laptops.

New ROG Strix Series

The ROG Strix SCAR is a laptop designed with esports enthusiasts in mind. A model that includes Windows 11 Pro, a screen with two sizes -15 and 17 inches- with a very fast refresh rate and intelligent cooling from the company supports 'Conductonaut Extreme' with liquid metal.

A laptop built for competitive gaming, powered by a 12th Gen Intel Core i9-12900H processor and a 150W NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti notebook GPU with Dynamic Boost. The Strix SCAR is available in 15-inch and 17-inch models, with the former offering three IPS display options: 240Hz QHD, 300Hz Full HD, and 165Hz QHD.

The 17-inch SCAR is available with a 240Hz QHD or 360Hz Full HD panel. Both models feature Dolby Vision, HDR and Adaptive-Sync for better graphics and a 3ms response time. The touchpad is bigger and the keyboard has RGB lighting. The new ROG Strix G15 and G17 pack an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX processor and a 150W NVIDIA GeForce RTX3080 Ti laptop GPU with Dynamic Boost for high-end power.

The G15 offers 300Hz Full HD and 165Hz QHD display options, while the G17 is available with 360Hz Full HD and 240Hz QHD panels; and both support Dolby Vision, offer a 3 ms response time and Adaptive-Sync. The Strix G is available in eclipse gray and two neon color options (Volt Green and Electro Punk).

All Strix series models feature a quad-speaker design with Dolby Atmos spatial sound, two-way artificial intelligence (AI) noise cancellation, a 90Wh battery, and 100W USB-C for charging. As for the connection, they include WiFi 6 and 2.5G LAN connectivity.

ROG Zephyrus G14, G15 and M16

The new ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 is a powerful gaming laptop with a sleek design. It comes with Windows 11, an AMD Ryzen 9 Series processor and AMD Radeon RX 6000S Series mobile graphics, ROG intelligent liquid metal cooling, and a custom vapor chamber. It also features DDR5 RAM and a 1TB PCIe SSD.

A sleek-looking laptop available in Eclipse Gray and Moonlight White, featuring a reflective holographic logo decorated plate. The lid is covered with 14,969 CNC-milled holes and 1,449 mini-LEDs on models equipped with the iconic AniMe Matrix screen. This means that it has more LEDs than last year's model and new animation possibilities to customize its appearance.

The Zephyrus G14 is one of the brand's first laptops to feature ROG's Nebula display, offering 120Hz at QHD resolution with 500 nits of maximum brightness, 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut and a 3ms response time, plus Dolby Vision, Adaptive-Sync, and Pantone Validation.

A screen that has been enlarged to a 16:10 aspect ratio. Among other details, it has Dolby Atmos, a 3D microphone matrix with bidirectional noise cancellation and artificial intelligence, and WiFi 6E connectivity. While the ROG Zephyrus G15 and M16 have also been renewed with the latest hardware from AMD and NVIDIA, DDR5 RAM and WiFi 6E.

ROG Zephyrus Duo 16

The new ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 adds a ScreenPad Plus sub-panel that offers extra space for working, streaming games, or controlling compatible titles. It also has a new 4-way hinge that allows the secondary screen to lift up and slide back to meet the main panel when opened, so there is no gap between the two for a more immersive experience.

A laptop running Windows 11, an AMD Ryzen 9 6980HX series CPU, and a 150W NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti laptop GPU with high power Dynamic Boost. It also features liquid metal that lowers CPU temperatures by 15 degrees and an AAS Plus 2.0 air intake that opens behind the secondary screen to increase airflow by 30%.

The ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 is available in two options for the main screen -which is 16 inches-, both with Dolby Vision support. The first is the ROG Nebula HDR, which packs all the specifications of the standard ROG Nebula panel and adds 512 mini-LED dimming zones capable of reaching 1100 nits of maximum brightness. A 16:10 QGD panel with a 165Hz refresh rate, VESA Display HDR 1000 certification, and a 100,000:1 contrast ratio.

The second option is a new Dual Spec screen, developed by ROG together with BOE, which allows switching between 4K at 120 Hz and Full HD at 240 Hz. Among other details, ROG's flagship for this year incorporates NumberPad, a keyboard with 1.7mm travel and per-key RGB, six speakers and two force-cancelling woofers, Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res sound, and AI-powered two-way noise cancellation.

A gaming tablet

The ROG Flow Z13 is a compact gaming tablet with a thin and light chassis that doesn't compromise on power. It packs Windows 11 along with a 14-core Intel Core i9-12900H processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti laptop GPU, and 5200 MHz LPDDR5 memory. It also features 1TB of PCIe SSD storage, a new steam chamber, and charging fast via USB-C.

A tablet that is available in two display options: a 60Hz 4K with 85% DCI-P3 coverage and a 120Hz Full HD panel with 100% sRGB coverage. Both are 16:10 touchscreens with Dolby Vision and have Corning Gorilla protection, Adaptive-Sync, 500 nits of maximum brightness, and Pantone validation.

ROG Flow Z13 lets you play in a variety of ways, whether it's using a mouse and keyboard case, the touchscreen, or adding gamepads. By including all the components behind the screen, intelligent cooling has plenty of fresh air to maintain peak performance at all times. As for the design, it has a retro-futuristic look and is inspired by the space race of the 20th century.

An opening at the rear of the chassis, which is covered in a spaceship-inspired machined pattern, allows a direct view of the computer's motherboard, and the integrated stand can be opened up to 170 degrees. ASUS has also updated ROG Flow X13 with the AMD Ryzen 9 6000 series processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti notebook GPU.

The Flow Z13 and X13 support the XG Mobile family of external GPUs, which includes additional USB ports, DisplayPort and HDMI, and Ethernet. An NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 can even be installed in the 2021 XG Mobile or with this year's new addition to the XG Mobile family, the AMD Radeon RX 6850M XT.

A desktop and backpacks

ASUS has also updated the ROG Strix GT15, its desktop computer, with an Intel Core i7-12700KF processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 and 64 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM for Greater graphic fluidity. While the carry handle and headphone hook make it easy to transport and the Aura Sync lighting details are fully customizable.

Lastly, the manufacturer has also introduced new bags and backpacks from the Archer series. Designed to carry your essential devices, the Archer Messenger 14 features a variety of pockets for your phone, charger and other necessities. It even has enough space for a laptop up to 14 inches.

For its part, the Archer Backpack 17 has modular compartments that can be adapted to carry both gaming, photography and content creation equipment (includes a tripod strap). It also includes extra padding for longer trips and can be carried as a backpack or travel bag.

At the bottom it has a waterproof and stain-proof pocket that is perfect for dirty clothes, while the one at the top allows you to keep hot items for 6 hours. All Archer backpacks display distinctive ROG design elements and use materials that are lightweight, durable, water-repellent, and built to withstand heavy use.
