He says that Guayaqueer was born in 2017 as an entrepreneurship that at the beginning focused only on the sale of t -shirts with illustrations that mix the imaginary LGBTIQ+ and the queer culture with the Ecuadorian/contemporary imaginary. “En el 2018 Sara y yo tuvimos una experiencia de educación que nos cambió la vida y desde entonces este rol educativo se volvió superimportante en Guayaqueer”, cuenta.

This is how they plan to create the Guayaqueer Escolita, where a process of literacy and training in human rights matters, history, politics, among others, among others, would begin.

In addition, Guayaqueer has an exhibition area to exhibit art and samples of historical archives that rescue and point to memory and historical conscience. In fact, they are currently receiving books with social, feminist, LGBTIQ+, art or history for the formation of a small library, which will also include fanzines, comics, novels and essays.

“One of the things that attracted me from the project is this fusion of activism with art, which use the same tools as well as recontextualization, reappropriation, reappropriation of national symbols, monuments...that help us position ourselves in these spaces. This is something elementary to us because we feel that this aesthetic activism is necessary, many times people change their mind and change their way of thinking, not so much for reason but for emotions, and that is the field just in theWhich one we move, ”says Espinoza, who is also an artist.

"There will be film cycles, reading clubs and many more things," adds Donoso, photographer and sociologist, specialized in human development.

T -shirts, bags, pins, cups, posters, postcards and stickers continue on sale in the store, in order to maintain the space that is located in Tomás Martínez 203 between Panama and Pedro Carbo (current Av Av.South Circunvalación 203).The visiting schedules are from Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m..
